Time to investigate WP7

I've been thinking about learning new technology for some time now. The regulars don't excite me that much. Recently, I came across this security article on NYT : Security to Ward Off Crime on Phones, where it says:

"...With smartphones outselling PCs for the first time — 421 million of the hand-held computers are expected to be sold worldwide this year, according to market analysts at IDC..."

One more thing to note is:

"..Symbian is the world’s most commonly used smartphone platform, but Nokia said this month that it would be replacing it over the next few years with Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system..."

This tells me that people are going to smartphone market with great force, even the hackers..so why not a technology enthusiast like myself.

Question is which platform to start with: Microsoft's WP7 seems to be the obvious choice as I am already extremely familiar with Microsoft Development Toolkit. I hope to blog more about WP7 in coming weeks and month.

My first target is to create an WP7 app that authenticate to a web application and perform some fundamental tasks such as user management or page management.
