2011 - Starting with good computer protection

I've been looking for a good anti virus solution for my home computers for some time. I've had expired subscription of McAfee on one of the Desktops, and the free Avg / Avast antivirus on the others. The Norton had just expired on my new laptop.

Then, I found McAfee Total Protection 2011 at Futureshop for $24.99 for 3 PCs for one year subscription. I think it's $50 bucks off the regular price during the Holidays. If you do your math, 8 bucks (which is less than lunch money) gets me complete protection on one PC for one year; I thought that's a great deal. I pay close to $35 per month for Home ADT monitoring service, compared to that it's way cheaper, although those are apples and oranges. Well, what I am trying to say that we do pay for our home security, why not pay for online security. Being a security professional, I always advise friends and family to never download software from torrents site; you don't know what other stuff they bundle-in.

Hackers are always ahead in the game, they just have to be right once, and your identity and money is out of the window.

Does an antivirus like this shields you completely from online attacks? Probably not, but it's the step in the right direction! In my mind, we should spend on online security or else it can bite you back big time, and then you'd regret...Haven't the wise people said this before.."A Stitch in Time Saves Nine" :)
